Rules & Policies

Our commitment to free speech comes with a responsibility to maintain a safe and authentic platform. Here's how we do it.

Last updated: December 8, 2025

Our Philosophy

MrMarmo is built on the principle of free speech absolutism. We believe that open dialogue, even when uncomfortable, leads to better understanding and a healthier society. We don't shadowban users or suppress content based on political viewpoints.

However, free speech is not the same as consequence-free speech. While we protect your right to express yourself, there are certain behaviors that cross the line from speech into harm. These rules exist to protect users, not to police opinions.

We're transparent about our moderation. When we take action, you'll know why. When we make mistakes, we own them. Our goal is to be the platform where you can speak freely while still feeling safe.

Our Commitment

We believe in free speech as a fundamental human right. We will not remove content simply because it's controversial, offensive to some, or politically inconvenient. We don't engage in viewpoint discrimination. You can discuss any topic, hold any political view, and express any opinion. We won't suppress your reach because we disagree with you.

What This Means in Practice

• No shadowbanning based on viewpoints • No algorithmic suppression of legal speech • No removal of content for being "offensive" or "controversial" • No cooperation with governments to suppress political speech • Transparent moderation with clear explanations

Lawful Limitations

Free speech has legal limits. We comply with applicable laws regarding: • Direct threats of violence • Child sexual abuse material (CSAM) • Content that is illegal in the user's jurisdiction • Fraud and illegal commercial activity These aren't viewpoint-based restrictions—they're legal requirements that apply to all speech.

What's Allowed

Almost everything. Seriously. • Political content of any viewpoint • Religious and anti-religious content • Controversial opinions and hot takes • Adult content (properly labeled) • Criticism of public figures, companies, or institutions • Satire, parody, and dark humor • Discussions of sensitive topics

What's Not Allowed

• Child sexual abuse material (CSAM) — immediate ban, reported to authorities • Direct, credible threats of violence against individuals • Content that is illegal under applicable law • Doxxing (posting private information to facilitate harassment) • Spam and automated abuse • Impersonation with intent to deceive • Malware or phishing attempts

Content Warnings & Labels

We use content warnings rather than removal when possible: • NSFW — Adult content, nudity • NSFL — Graphic violence, disturbing content • Sensitive — Content some may find upsetting Users can choose their comfort level. We label, you decide.

Harassment

Criticism is not harassment. Disagreement is not harassment. Being offended is not being harassed. Harassment is targeted, repeated behavior intended to intimidate or silence someone. Examples include: • Coordinated campaigns to mass-report or brigade a user • Following someone across the platform after being blocked • Creating accounts specifically to evade blocks • Repeated unwanted contact after being asked to stop

Threats of Violence

We remove direct, credible threats of violence. This means: • Specific threats against identifiable individuals • Statements that could reasonably be interpreted as intent to cause physical harm Hyperbole, jokes, and political rhetoric are generally not threats. "I hope X happens" is different from "I'm going to make X happen."

Protection of Minors

We have zero tolerance for content that sexualizes minors. This includes: • Child sexual abuse material (CSAM) • Sexualized content involving minors, real or fictional • Grooming behavior Violations result in immediate permanent ban and report to NCMEC/law enforcement.

Doxxing & Privacy

Posting someone's private information to facilitate harassment or harm is not allowed. This includes: • Home addresses • Phone numbers • Financial information • Private photos shared without consent • Information about family members Public information that's already widely available is generally not doxxing.

Impersonation

Parody and satire accounts are fine when clearly labeled. What's not allowed: • Pretending to be another real person to deceive • Creating fake accounts of public figures without clear parody labels • Using someone else's identity to damage their reputation Parody accounts should be clearly labeled as such in the bio.

Spam & Manipulation

Keep it real: • No bot networks to artificially amplify content • No coordinated inauthentic behavior • No selling fake followers or engagement • No automated bulk posting or scraping • No cryptocurrency scams or pump-and-dump schemes

Platform Manipulation

Don't try to game the system: • No exploiting bugs for unfair advantage • No circumventing rate limits or restrictions • No using multiple accounts to evade bans • No coordinated mass reporting to silence users

Your Data

Your data belongs to you. We: • Don't sell your personal information to advertisers • Don't share your data with governments without legal process • Provide tools to download and delete your data • Are transparent about what we collect and why

Private Information

Don't share others' private information without consent: • Personal photos or videos shared privately • Private messages or conversations • Medical, financial, or legal information • Information that could put someone at risk

Consent

Respect consent: • Don't share intimate images without consent • Don't record private conversations without permission • Don't access accounts that aren't yours

Reporting Content

See something that breaks the rules? Report it. • Use the report button on any post or profile • Provide context when reporting • Reports are reviewed by humans, not just algorithms • We don't take action just because something is reported False reports and mass-reporting campaigns may result in action against the reporters.

What Happens When Rules Are Broken

Our response depends on severity: • Warning — First-time or minor violations • Content removal — Specific violating content taken down • Temporary restriction — Limited functionality for a period • Temporary suspension — Account suspended for days/weeks • Permanent ban — For severe violations or repeat offenders CSAM and direct violent threats result in immediate permanent bans.

Appeals

We make mistakes. If you think we got it wrong: • Every enforcement action can be appealed • Appeals are reviewed by different team members • We explain our reasoning in detail • We reverse decisions when we're wrong We aim to respond to appeals within 48 hours.

Transparency

We believe in transparency: • We tell you why action was taken • We publish regular transparency reports • We don't hide behind vague "community guidelines" • We admit and correct mistakes publicly
